In these countries, the movie was broadcast in IMAX, MX4D and 4DX format. The company Funimation acquired the rights for its broadcast in cinemas in the United States and Canada. The movie was distributed in Japan by Toei Company in collaboration with 20th Century Fox, with a premiere held on December 14, 2018, while its international distribution was left in charge of 20th Century Fox. Much of the rest of the movie focuses on Goku and Vegeta’s struggles to defeat the incredibly powerful Legendary Super Saiyan. The first part of this movie is based on the Dragon Ball Minus manga, which tells the origin of Goku and many of the events that lead up to his arrival on Earth. However, one day, Frieza appears on Earth with a mysterious Saiyan named Broly, who confronts Goku and Vegeta. Goku, realizing that there are still extremely strong people in the universe, continues to train himself to become stronger. The film is set after the Tournament of Power in a time when the Earth is at peace. That said, much of Broly is just as fans likely remember him. As such, some aspects of Broly’s design, character, and backstory were changed from his original, non-canonical counterpart. It was released in Japan on Decemand is the fourth anime movie starring the character Broly, though it is the first one to be considered officially canonical since, unlike the previous three, it was written and supervised by Toriyama directly.
It is also the third Dragon Ball movie released in the 2010s, after Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection “F”.
The film was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. The great thing about Super Dragonball Z is that players can not only move towards and away from one another but can also take advantage of the 3D environment to move left and right out of the way of attacks.
